Ms Vanessa Tran is a final year medical student at the University of Melbourne, due to graduate in 2020. She has also completed a Bachelor of Biomedicine at the University of Melbourne, majoring in Human Structure and Function.
Ms Tran has a keen interest in clinical research and neurosurgery, particularly neurotrauma and spine surgery. In addition to her clinical rotations, Ms Tran has completed clinical electives with the Trauma Service at Alfred Hospital and in neurosurgery at Huashan Hospital in Shanghai. Ms Tran’s involvement at the NTRI has seen her participating in research on traumatic acute subdural haematomas in the elderly and in surgical site infections following spinal surgery. In the future, she hopes to pursue a career in surgery.
