A/Prof Ellis is a pre-hospital Retrieval Consultant, Emergency Physician, and Intensivist whose clinical career has spanned 25 years across Australia and the United Kingdom. An internationally recognised leader in trauma systems, he is the Director of Trauma at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Co-Chair of the South Australian Statewide Trauma Service (Trauma SA), and former Director of MedSTAR, South Australia’s emergency medical retrieval service.
A/Prof Ellis leads a comprehensive portfolio of trauma research focused on trauma system development, major haemorrhage, traumatic coagulopathy, haemostatic resuscitation, and traumatic brain injury. He is the author of the second edition of Cases in Pre-hospital and Retrieval Medicine and holds academic appointments with Adelaide University, Flinders University, and James Cook University.
