Integrating Injury Research, Education, Medical Technologies and Trauma Systems Development to improve clinical care and outcomes.
The National Trauma Research Institute was established in 2003 by partnership institutions Alfred Health and Monash University. We collaborate with organisations nationally and internationally to integrate Research, Education, Medical Technologies and Trauma Systems Development to improve clinical care and outcomes.
The Alfred is the busiest trauma centre in Australasia and has one of the largest and most advanced intensive care units in the region. It is a recognised world leader in trauma and critical care and has successfully developed and delivered international, interdisciplinary trauma training programs, linked to infrastructure capacity building and data monitoring.
Professor Mark Fitzgerald describes the National Trauma Research Institute's ongoing research into new ways of improving mortality outcomes for trauma victims.
